Want to do your Gold expedition but have no-one to do it with? Couldn’t make your school or youth group expedition dates?
Activ Adventures runs open Gold training, practice and qualifying expeditions every year and can easily organise Bronze and Silver options on request. Often participants have missed the chance to do their expedition with their own D of E group elsewhere and don’t want to have to wait a year for their next opportunity to complete their award.
Open Gold Expedition Dates
Training: 26 - 29 March 2012 (4 days) £140 Peak District
Package includes: 5 day/4 nights at a campsite or bunkhouse location to start, then 4 day/3 night practice expedition using a variety of campsites. Free use of group equipment, including tents, cooking stoves, maps and compasses. Instructors will work closely with each expedition team and to work on the DofE expedition framework modules (including first aid, emergency procedures, micro navigation and route planning, advanced campcraft and health and safety) to ensure all participants are ready for the practice expedition. Package excludes: travel to/from venue (although we can organise), personal food and equipment.
Practice Expedition: 9 - 13 July 2012 (5 days) £175 Brecon Beacons
Package includes: 5 day/4 night practice expedition with teams being accompanied on the first two days, practising and developing skills developed in training. Supervision becomes increasingly more remote on subsequent days as teams complete their 3/4 day expedition and develop self-reliance, leadership and teamwork skills in preparation for the qualifying expedition. Package excludes: travel to/from venue (although we can organise), personal food and equipment.
Qualifying Expedition: 28 August - 2 Sept 2012 (6 days) £210 Snowdonia
Package includes: 6 day/5 night qualifying expedition with first two days travelling, meeting assessor and becoming familiar with conditions of the area. Free use of group equipment. Instructors will support and remotely supervise expedition teams. Package excludes: travel to/from venue (although we can organise), personal food and equipment.
